Before completely learning the easy ways on how to win this game, you have to know the basics first. In a typical Mexican train dominoes game, players use a double twelve dominoes and a marker. Traditional games use a coin (penny or nickel). Today, any marker will do.

First, shuffle all the dominoes on the table. Lay all the dominoes on the table and shuffle them with your hand. The players then select 15 dominoes each (this rule applies for 4 players). The dominoes left should be piled up in the boneyard with the face down. All the dominoes should be placed on their edge in a way that the faces are hidden from other players.

The player who has the 12-12 (double twelve) will start the first game by placing the said doubles in the center of the table. If no one has a double, all players should draw from the boneyard until the required domino has been fished out. The second game will be started by the 11-11 (double eleven) and so on. There are 13 games all in all in a Mexican train dominoes game.

The game moves in a clockwise order. Each player should be able to start their own train. All the connecting ends of the dominoes must be a match principally the ones that are linked to the center domino.

The Mexican train dominoes play ends at once when one player is out of dominoes or if the layout has been blocked. Most experts advise to keep the train private. If you open your train, you allow other players to play in your train; thus, it leaves you making a move at the end trail of your own train. This move has its pros and cons. While public trains can be beneficial at times, it is best to keep a train private.

If players have made a move on a public train and the end value has been changed, play another domino that brings back the end to its true value.

Playing a double in your train can also be advantageous to your victory. This technique in playing Mexican train dominoes can block your opponent’s move, which helps you in winning the game.
